Day of Reflection - Current Projects

Day of Reflection Sub Group

The Day of Reflection Sub Group recently published a local scoping study on a Day of Reflection and a dicussion paper and proposal based on its findings. Both reports were launched at a conference in Armagh on 4 October 2006 which featured guest speakers, Asta Zinbo (Director of Civil Society Initiatives, International Commission for Missing Persons in Sarajevo), Ulrike Niens (Dept. of Education, Queen’s University Belfast), Deaglan de Breadun (Irish Times Journalist) and Colleen Macaulay (Community Relations, IFA).

The discussion paper and proposal recommends an initial Day of Private Reflection to be held on 21 June 2007.  Following careful consideration of all fedback received to the proposals the Sub Group decided that there was merit and benefit in proceeding with an initial Day of Private Reflection on 21 June 2007.

While the initiative is society-wide private is the key word.  No civic or public events are planned and participation is entirely voluntary.  Full details on the Day can be found at www.dayofreflection.com
